Oh no! They’d given me another Suzuki Swift. In Queensland it seems there are more Suzuki Swift’s than there are Holden Commodores and Ford Falcons put together. Everywhere you look, there is a Swift, car parks, on the road, they are everywhere and they multiply weekly. Whatever Suzuki has done in Queensland with the Swift has worked far too well, their marketing department needs an award for making the Swift the most common small car in Brisbane. With that in mind I sat at the red light facing south on Kingsford Smith Drive. Sure enough, an exact same colour Swift pulled up next to me. There was a momentary glance to reflect our commonality followed by an uncomfortable smile. I’d joined the Swift club. A good friend of mine sent me this photo last week of his Swift, parked in front of a nearly identical Swift which was parked in front of a nearly identical Swift. Do they make Double Caffeine Pepsi? It might be interesting to see how moving this race from the Labor Day holiday to the Chase will affect ticket sales. Surely, having to be at work the following day, instead of it being a holiday, should increase sales. No? Could NASCAR be *this* close to giving up on Auto Club Speedway? Moving this race to the Chase won't help attendance. By giving the Labor Day date to Atlanta, NASCAR helped that track to sell out. Previous plans to increase the degree of banking in Fontana's turns, and narrow some parts of the track have been put on hold. Why? Why isn't NASCAR in a hurry to dump more cash down this money pit? Are they really making more money from TV and movie shoots at the track than from their version of 'racing'? NASCAR listened to the fans and will start races at 1 pm/et next year. Hey, it works... Although there’s no real details to the discussion, it wouldn’t be shocking if Cribbs and his agent would push for a trade. It’s widely been discussed that Cribbs wants a new contract. It’s also true that players have forced their way into trades away from the Browns in order to make more money. Florio at PFT is floating the idea of Cribbs for Ted Ginn, Jr. No idea how this gets thrown into the mix, but it may make sense for the Dolphins to try and unload at least one receiver to make room for Cribbs. Is there anything do this? We’ll have to see, but combined with all the Brady Quinn drama it seems the next 5 days before the deadline will be “fun”. Read more |
